  • DEFINITENESS OF PURPOSE

Definiteness of purpose is the beginning of every achievement worthy of mention. Wherever you find anybody who is succeeding, you'll find a person who has adopted the principles of definiteness of purpose in connection with the things he does, and follows that principle at all times.

You have to be absolutely definite in connection with your major purpose. Your purpose and goals should have definite action, definite time, it is not just enough to wish, be definite about your aspirations.

It is not just enough to aspire, to have a dream; you must know what to do, when to do it, where to do it, why to do it, and importantly how to do it. And more importantly, see to it that you get it done.

Knowing what to do, and laying out plan for doing it, and been very definite about all the plans is what constitutes a great successful life.

Do you know that if you wait for all circumstances to be just right before you undertake something that you've been planning, may be for a great number of years, you'll never start, because circumstances are just never right.

If you want to do a thing badly enough, get together all of the information you can about it, provide yourself with all of the equipment that is available, and start where you stand to do what you can about it at that time. The chances are, as strange as it may seem, as you use the tools that you have at hand, whatever they may be, that other and better tools will sometimes miraculously be placed at your service.

It is not enough to know what to do but to as well know when to do it, where to do it, why to do it, and how to do it. Know what you want, when you want it, why you want it, and HOW you intend to get it. These are the fuel that will fire and spur you on!

  • The power of the Oppressor

The most potent weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. It is not what you are that holds you back, it is what you think you are not that holds you back. What you see and what you hear are small things compared to what you think. The power of the oppressor is ignorance. They keep you ignorant of your ability, your real identity as God's wonderful creature. You need to be a global citizen thinker, beyond the confinement of your community, territory, or even continent. Your mental state is more important than your physical state. That is why you need to create a mental awareness that you are too good and perfect to be a nobody. It is this simple truth that can liberate you and set you free.

It is possible to die in the presence of plenty; it is possible to die unfulfilled because you refuse to be mentally reformed about your true and real identity.

What you feed your soul determines the quality of your life. To live to fulfill your true potential and identity is to be mentally transformed. The children of Israel never made it to Canaan simply because though their location changed, their mentality never changed. For forty years they refused to realize and wake up to their new reality as God's somebody. They were delivered but not free. Your mental state is more important than your physical state.

Transformation is more important than relocation; mental freedom is more important than physical deliverance. Nothing can corrupt Canaan more than Egyptian slavery-thinking. Nothing can make you live below your potential more than thinking less of yourself. No one is more dangerous than a mountain man with a valley mentality, though on a mountain, but his mind didn't make it to the mountain top. Nothing is more catastrophic than God's somebody seeing himself as a nobody. You are God's somebody.

The power of the oppressor is ignorance. They keep you ignorant of your ability. It is not what you are that holds you back, it is what you think you are not that holds you back. What you see and what you hear are small things compared to what you think. God can empower your mind, but you must empower your will. The human will is the most powerful force on Earth. God is able to deliver the people from the power of Pharaoh, but not from the power of their own minds. You are not free until your mind is free. Your mind can only be free until it discovers the truth about yourself.

  • SEVEN SIMPLE STEPS TO SETTING AND ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS

There is a powerful formula for setting and achieving goals that you can use for the rest of your life. It consists of seven simple steps. Any one of these steps can double and triple your productivity if you are not currently using it. Many of my graduates have increased their incomes dramatically in a matter of a few years, or even a few months, with this simple, seven-part method.

Step One: Decide exactly what you want.

Either decide for yourself or sit down with your boss and discuss your goals and objectives until you are absolutely, crystal clear about what is expected of you and in what order of priority. It is amazing how many people are working away, day after day, on low value tasks because they have not had this critical discussion with their manager.

“One of the very worst uses of time is to do something very well that need not be done at all.”

Stephen Covey says that, "Before you begin scrambling up the ladder of success, make sure that it is leaning against the right building."

    Step Two: Write it down.

Think on paper. When you write your goal down, you crystallize it and give it tangible form. You create something that you can touch and see. On the other hand, a goal or objective that is not in writing is merely a wish or a fantasy. It has no energy behind it. Unwritten goals lead to confusion, vagueness, misdirection and numerous mistakes.

Step Three: Set a deadline on your goal. Set sub-deadlines if necessary.

A goal or decision without a deadline has no urgency. It has no real beginning or end. Without a definite deadline accompanied by the assignment or acceptance of specific responsibilities for completion, you will naturally procrastinate and get very little done.

Step Four: Make a list of everything that you can think of that you are going to have to do to achieve your goal.

As you think of new activities, add them to your list. Keep building your list until it is complete. A list gives you a visual picture of the larger task or objective. It gives you a track to run on. It dramatically increases the likelihood that you will achieve your goal as you have defined it and on schedule.

Step Five: Organize the list into a plan.

Organize your list by priority and sequence. Take a few minutes to decide what you need to do first and what you can do later. Decide what has to be done before something else and what needs to be done afterwards. Even better, lay out your plan visually, in the form of a series of boxes and circles on a sheet of paper, with lines and arrows showing the relationship of each task to each other task. You’ll be amazed at how much easier it is to achieve your goal when you break it down into individual tasks. With a written goal and an organized plan of action, you will be far more productive and efficient than someone who is carrying his goals around in his mind.

Step Six: Take action on your plan immediately.

Do something. Do anything. An average plan vigorously executed is far better than a brilliant plan on which nothing is done. For you to achieve any kind of success, execution is everything.

Step Seven: Resolve to do something every single day that moves you toward your major goal.

Build this activity into your daily schedule. You may read a specific number of pages on a key subject. You could call on a specific number of prospects or customers. You can engage in a specific period of physical exercise. You can learn a certain number of new words in a foreign language. Whatever it is, you must never miss a day. Keep pushing forward. Once you start moving, keep moving. Don’t stop. This decision, this discipline alone, can dramatically increase your speed of goal accomplishment and boost your personal productivity.

    The Power of Written Goals.

Clear written goals have a wonderful effect on your thinking. They motivate you and galvanize you into action. They stimulate your creativity, release your energy and help you to overcome procrastination as much as any other factor. Goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievement. The bigger your goals and the clearer they are, the more excited you become about achieving them. The more you think about your goals, the greater becomes your inner drive and desire to accomplish them. Think about your goals and review them daily. Every morning when you begin, take action on the most important task you can accomplish to achieve your most important goal at the moment.
  • Ten lessons from the book "Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance" by Angela Duckworth

Talent is not enough. While talent can give you a head start, it is not enough to guarantee success. In fact, studies have shown that grit is more important than talent for achieving long-term success.

Passion is essential. If you are not passionate about your goals, you are less likely to persevere through challenges. Passion gives you the motivation to keep going when things get tough.

Perseverance is key. Perseverance is the ability to keep going even when things get tough. It is essential for achieving long-term goals.

Practice makes perfect. Deliberate practice is the key to developing your skills and talents. It involves focusing on your weaknesses and working to improve them.

Set realistic goals. If you set unrealistic goals, you are setting yourself up for failure. Instead, set realistic goals that you can achieve with hard work and perseverance.

Be resilient. Don't let setbacks derail your progress. Instead, learn from your setbacks and use them to fuel your determination.

Have a growth mindset. Believe that your abilities can be developed through hard work and practice. This will help you stay motivated even when things get tough.

Find a mentor. A mentor can provide you with guidance and support on your journey. They can help you stay focused on your goals and offer advice when you need it.

Be optimistic. Believe in yourself and your ability to achieve your goals. This will help you stay motivated and focused on your journey.

Enjoy the journey. Don't forget to enjoy the process of achieving your goals. Along the way, you will learn and grow, and you will make memories that will last a lifetime.

I hope these lessons help you on your journey to achieving your goals.
